About Me
Who and what is Onrus?
The name is taken from the town or village or even suburb where I am from and still frequents, all depends on the way you see it, called Onrus River or Onrus to the locals. It situated near Hermanus (see map) which is in the Overberg Region.
Onrus is a personal blog about me (Rustig) and my travels in the real world and how I experience life and what it has to offer. Here you will find my rants and grumbles, food and wine moments and a recipe or two. Be prepared that this blog is not always in English. In that case I suggest you use Google Translate to understand what I wrote in Afrikaans. You may comment in English though.
Who is Rustig?
Rustig is the name I decided upon and use in all the blogs past and present.
I am just what the name says! Although sometimes impatient, anti-social, like things either black or white. No shades of grey. Not very diplomatic and speak my mind! Like good food and wine, simple things in life and people do bore me very easily. I am living in Europe (no country as I do move around a lot) and done so since 1996!
What is it with the tag line?
“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes” basically means who will guard the guards. In this present day and age where the powers to be are constantly trying to persuade us that they watch us for our own good, we must wonder who will watch them to make sure they do the right things.
Where ever you see the “relaxed” crocodile, you can bet your last penny. Rustig was there!!!
